Our Sanctuary

Our Ethical Approach

At Krabi Elephant Green Sanctuary our top priority is the welfare of our elephants. We provide a natural and safe environment for them to live in and ensure they are not subjected to any harmful or unnatural practices. We do not offer activities such as elephant rides, performances, or bathing shows. We are committed to educating visitors, and we look forward to introducing you to our elephants at our sanctuary.

Why we do not allow you to bathe in the water or mud with our elephants

In the wild, elephants play in the mud and bathe in the ponds on their own, and we believe that it is important they have their freedom to bathe freely and not with people in the water with them.

It's a natural behaviour for elephants to bathe and if we give them space, they can roll around, play, and submerge underwater and enjoy their life.

It is also dangerous if visitors are in the pond or the mud with the elephants and accidents can happen.

Also, when elephants enter the water it stimulate their bowels so it is unhygienic as the elephants urinate and defecate.

Bathing with elephants does not put the welfare of the elephants first. Instead our visitors watch with amazement as our elephants bathe freely in the mud and ponds. We want our elephants to have a great life which is why we don't offer bathing with elephants at Krabi Elephant Green Sanctuary. â€‹
